Chicago, IL - - Engineering Systems Inc. (ESI) is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Dana J. Medlin, Senior Consultant, to the company's consulting staff. Dr. Medlin is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Material and Metallurgical Engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
Prior to his academic career, Dr. Medlin worked at Zimmer, Inc. (a medical device manufacturer) where he coordinated key materials research efforts between several research organizations. Among other projects, he was also team leader in the process development of metallurgically attaching Trabecular Metal to titanium substrates, for which two patents are pending.
Dr. Medlin specializes in medical device design and manufacturing, materials selection, product development, quality control and engineering research. "We are thrilled to add Dr. Medlin to our group, especially to the growing medical device arena" stated Dr. Dale Alexander, Director of Materials & Applied Sciences at ESI.
"In addition to his academic and industry experience, Dr. Medlin comes to ESI with more than 14 years of medical device and failure analysis experience adds" Nelson Koopman, ESI President & COO. He is a Fellow of ASM International, as well as the author of numerous publications.
