Dr. Brady R. Cox Receives C.A. Hogentogler Award from ASTM International Soil and Rock Committee



W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., - Brady R. Cox, Ph.D., assistant professor at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark., has received the C.A. Hogentogler Award from ASTM International Committee D18 on Soil and Rock.

The Hogentogler Award is presented annually to the author or authors of a paper of outstanding merit on soil and/or rock for engineering purposes that is published by the Society. Cox was honored along with his co-authors Kenneth H. Stokoe and Ellen M. Rathje for their paper, "An In Situ Test Method for Evaluating the Coupled Pore Pressure Generation and Nonlinear Shear Modulus Behavior of Liquefiable Soils." The paper was published in the Geotechnical Testing Journal in 2009.

A graduate of Utah State University in Logan, Utah, where he earned a B.S. and an M.S. in civil engineering, Cox received his Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He has been an assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Arkansas since 2006.

Cox joined ASTM International and Committee D18 this year. He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute.
