Dow Corning Presents Energy-Efficient Glass & Glazing Webinar

Midland, MI - Lawrence D. Carbary, construction industry scientist for Dow Corning, will discuss glazing methods for long-term energy savings and sustainability on June 5 in a free web seminar organized by the Glass Association of North America (GANA).

"Concerns over energy usage, carbon emissions and global warming in the developed world have risen steadily over the past few years," said Carbary. "Buildings consume significant energy for heating, cooling and lighting. Energy-efficient fenestration systems and sustainable building materials play a critical role in reducing energy costs and carbon emissions."

The presentation, "Thermal and Energy Modeling of Two Fenestration Systems in Hot and Cold Climates," which Carbary co-authored with Valerie Hayez, strategic application engineer for Dow Corning, discusses the energy consumption of commercial buildings with varying climatic conditions and materials. Carbary will compare mechanically fixed glazed curtainwall systems to Dow Corning's Silicone Structural Glazed system and demonstrate simulations using Therm and Window software from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories and EFEN software from Carli Inc.

"We are thrilled to kick off our webinar series with Dow Corning's presentation, which will allow us to pursue our mission of providing free education to the construction industry by addressing one of our most pressing issues: the need to develop and promote energy-efficient construction technologies," said Brian Pitman, director of marketing and communications for GANA. "GANA feels very fortunate to be able to address these needs and more for our members and the industry as a whole."

The webinar begins at noon EDT (11:00 a.m. CDT/9:00 a.m. PDT) on June 5. To register, visit the GANA website at http://www.glasswebsite.com/webinar.
