Dow Corning Names Three New Vice-Presidents


Dow Corning Corporation's Board of Directors has announced the appointment of three corporate vice presidents.

Tom Cook, president of Dow Corning's operations in Greater China, has been named corporate vice president with responsibilities for developing and executing Dow Corning's business strategies in China. Alan Hubbard has been appointed Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer with overall human resources responsibility for Dow Corning's 10,000 employees globally. Jim Whitlock, who is currently executive director of global supply chains, becomes corporate vice president for the Manufacturing Engineering and Global Operations function, responsible for the corporation's functional excellence initiatives focused on fast, reliable and safe manufacturing and delivery of silicone materials.

Tom Cook joined Dow Corning in 1985, as a member of the Information Technology group, and moved to the Automotive & Electronics Industries in 1991. Since then, he has served as global distribution manager, director of customer services, and global industry executive director of the Electronics Industry as well as general manager of the Service Enterprise Unit. Tom also played a major role in strategy development for Dow Corning's innovative and highly successful Xiameter® brand offering that provides web-based access to products for customers who do not require personalized service. He will continue with his responsibilities as Asian area vice president and Greater China president. Tom, who is currently located in Shanghai, is a native of Midland, Michigan.

Alan Hubbard joined Dow Corning in 2007 as director, global compensation and benefits. In this role, he has worked on developing the health care strategy with a focus on wellness, and implementing several key global compensation and benefits initiatives. Prior to joining Dow Corning, Alan has had several years of high-level human resource experience in leading companies in the finance and food & beverage sectors, where his expertise in talent management and global human resource strategies enabled him to implement best practices in the areas of organization structure, talent management, M&A and change management. Alan is currently located in Midland, Michigan.

Jim Whitlock joined Dow Corning in 1987 as a design engineer in Facilities Engineering, and spent the next ten years in a variety of manufacturing and engineering roles at various Dow Corning sites. He has managed Dow Corning's manufacturing sites in Greensboro, and Midland, Michigan, where he introduced a variety of customer-oriented models that resulted in improved manufacturing efficiency and increased revenue contributions. He has also served as global industry director for Paper and Process Industries. In 2006 he re-located to Shanghai as business director for Dow Corning's Specialty Chemicals Business in Asia. He has since taken on responsibilities for Dow Corning's 45 manufacturing and warehouse facilities worldwide, and is currently located in Midland, Michigan.
