and Its Customers

HARTLAND, Wis., (December 11, 2006) - The food industry now has increased belting options for conveyors thanks to Dorner Manufacturing incorporating wire belting onto its sanitary AquaPruf conveyor frames.

Wire belting has definite benefits for many food processing conveying applications. So when the industry's largest manufacturer of metal conveyor belting introduced its line of DuraLite belting at Process Expo in Chicago, food manufacturers were blown away with the strength, lightness, adaptability and affordability of this new food-safe belt. But if it wasn't for Dorner and Cambridge International, Inc. working together, this latest innovation would not have been unveiled.

Cambridge wanted to showcase this heavy-duty, wear-resistant stainless steel belt design on a frame that was suitable for sanitary environments. It needed to be easy to clean and disassemble, and they also wanted the conveyor to provide options like nosebars, belt lifters and tip-up pulleys. However, the more pressing issue was finding a supplier who could build this custom frame in less than 2 Vi weeks. Dorner's Engineered Special Product (ESP) program was ready and able to meet the challenge.

The wire belt was so new, Dorner did not have a sample available until 10 days before shipment was needed for the Expo. The conveying expert saw its AquaPruf conveyor frame as the perfect choice for meeting Cambridge's requirements. Dorner made adjustments to its AquaPruf Series conveyor to accommodate the new belt size and allow for the flexibility needed for the tight turns accomplished by this new belt. The new belting has the tightest turn ratio of any wire belt Cambridge has manufactured to date.

At the Expo, integrators and machine builders saw the AquaPruf Series of conveyors could now easily accommodate wire belting in coolers/freezers, drying/curing applications and even the poultry industry. The new configuration is also suitable for heat treating and other industrial applications.

Building a custom frame to accommodate the newest innovation in conveyor belting is part of Dorner's Engineered Special Product program. ESP is a program that pays extra attention to building conveyors with unique dimensions and characteristics above and beyond the dimensions of Dorner's regular conveyor platforms. Instead of building conveyors in-house and from scratch, customers save time and money by letting conveyor experts, such as the team on Dorner's ESP program, handle the project.
