Manufacturers: Latest Discussion Draft Continues Tax Reform Debate with Focus on Small Business

Chairman Camp’s Open and Transparent Process Will Help Ensure Pro-Growth Reform

Washington, D.C., - National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Vice President of Tax and Domestic Economic Policy Dorothy Coleman issued the following statement in response to House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp’s (R-MI) release of a discussion draft on small business tax reforms focusing on easing tax compliance for these firms.

“The NAM has been a consistently strong voice for comprehensive tax reform that benefits manufacturers of all sizes. If manufacturers in the United States are to succeed in today’s increasingly competitive global economy, it’s important that policymakers continue to move forward to develop a pro-growth, pro-manufacturing tax system.

We are pleased by Chairman Camp’s efforts to move this debate forward by offering this latest discussion draft specifically focused on tax reforms for small businesses. The NAM looks forward to reviewing the proposal with our membership and offering comments to the committee that will help shape the broader debate. If we stand still with our current overcomplicated, burdensome system, we will watch other nations surpass America in the global marketplace.”

The NAM has released A Growth Agenda: Four Goals for a Manufacturing Resurgence in America, a blueprint to get the U.S. economy growing again. Comprehensive tax reform is a critical component of these plans, and the NAM continues to push both Congress and the Administration to adopt them. Click here to read more.
