Culver City, Calif. - May 31, 2011 - DISC-LOCK International recently attended the AWEA (American Wind Energy Association) hosted WINDPOWER 2011 Conference and Exhibition in Anaheim, California.

Organized by AWEA, the conference is a perfect blend of education, exhibition, and networking, offering unparalleled access to the wind industry for those serious about capitalizing on this growing market.

"This conference showcases exciting opportunities for our company which is entering the wind market and brings wind leaders together to address America's economic, energy, and climate challenges," said Alistair McKinlay, Chairman of DISC-LOCK International. "The wind power industry is a new market for us and numerous suppliers to this market can use our vibration resistant fasteners," added McKinlay.

"Meeting wind power industry specialists at a conference like this can produce fresh partnerships and sales opportunities," said Greg White, Vice President of DISC-LOCK. "There is a wind industry goal of supplying 20% of electricity nationwide by 2030. To achieve this goal, the industry will need to add an additional 65,000 turbines between now and 2030 and we intend to sell our vibration-proof fasteners to several suppliers of these turbines," added White.

DISC-LOCK vibration-proof fasteners can be used in several areas of the wind power market including, but not limited to; tower base fasteners, tower joints, turbine blades, turbine generators and braking systems. Cyclic stresses produced by rotating turbine blades that will stress and fatigue conventional fasteners will not affect DISC-LOCK fasteners.

The distinguishing feature of the DISC-LOCK fastening systems that set them apart from traditional fasteners, revolves around the patented cam-action of the DISC-LOCK nut along with the free-spinning characteristic of the nut.
