New Commercial Office Signals Growth for Both Boston and the Industry's Most Complete, Most Current Provider of High Resolution Digital Earth Imagery

LONGMONT, Colo., March 12 /-- DigitalGlobeŽ, the leading content provider of the world's highest resolution commercial satellite imagery and geospatial information products, today announced several strategic initiatives for its commercial business unit. The upgraded roadmap includes a new Boston, Mass. commercial office, along with plans to integrate assets from the recent acquisition of GlobeXplorer and provide non-government technology sectors, such as real estate, internet portals, and location-based services quicker, easier access to the company's digital imagery products.

"The satellite imaging industry is at an inflexion point, and the role of geospatial content is expanding beyond traditional GIS and remote sensing users," said Jill Smith, CEO of DigitalGlobe. "We eventually see our commercial business comprising about 50 percent of our total business. The Boston office gives us close proximity to a rich talent pool of candidates possessing extensive experience with information and content businesses and a growing commercial customer base on the east coast and internationally. This new office is also part of our transition from a satellite-centric imagery company to a leading provider of geospatial content."

Today DigitalGlobe delivers the majority of digital earth imagery available on the internet through several high-level marketing partnerships. With the expansion of its commercial business and the introduction of its new Web-based delivery system, DigitalGlobe is making digital imagery easily accessible to meet the needs of a growing set of consumer and business-focused market demands that include everything from mash-ups that map out jogging routes to real estate applications for evaluating new neighborhoods. DigitalGlobe is focused on expanding its overall capacity and resources for innovation that positions the company to maintain its industry-leading role of developing and delivering the most technologically advanced, flexible geospatial products on the market.

About DigitalGlobe Longmont, Colo.-based DigitalGlobe (www.digitalglobe.com) is the clear leader in the global commercial Earth imagery and geospatial information market. The company's technical superiority and innovation, unparalleled commitment to customer service, extensive business partner network and open systems philosophy make DigitalGlobe the preferred supplier of imagery products to government and commercial markets. DigitalGlobe is the only geospatial content provider to take an end-to-end approach to geospatial imagery, from acquiring proprietary high-resolution images through a leading-edge satellite and aerial network, to integrating and distributing that data through GlobeXplorer, a proprietary web-based search and retrieval system that makes it easy to find, purchase and download global imagery. DigitalGlobe's QuickBird satellite is the world's highest resolution commercial imaging system. The company's next-generation WorldView 1 satellite is scheduled to launch in mid-2007, and its WorldView 2 satellite is anticipated to launch in late 2008. The company's updated and growing ImageLibrary contains over three hundred million square kilometers of satellite and aerial imagery suited to countless applications for people who map, view, navigate and study the earth.
