Deutsche Telekom Presents M2M Demos, Unveils Details of New M2M Developer Packages and Hosts Hub: Raum Mentoring Competition at Embedded World

At Embedded World on stand 307 in Hall 5, from 26 - 28 February 2013, Deutsche Telekom will be presenting M2M application demos and an opportunity to win a day of mentoring at Deutsche Telekom's business incubator hub:raum. Additionally, further details of new M2M Developer Packages will be revealed.
Deutsche Telekom M2M demos at Embedded World:
Daily at 11am and 3pm, demos will feature M2M in action, demonstrating the capabilities of the M2M Developer Platform and additional M2M-related application programming interfaces (APIs) from Deutsche Telekom's Developer Garden.
Cumulocity VendMe is a cloud-based, vending machine telemetry solution which is being combined with Telekom Tropo - an IVR (Interactive Response System). Based on Telekom Tropo, the vending solution can be extended to hands-free mode and a vending machine can be controlled remotely via telephone with added confirmation services via SMS (see http://www.wolter.biz/2013/01/talk-to-your-vending-machine-in-the-cloud/).
Home and building automation is of growing interest to companies and hobbyists alike. Developer Garden partnered with Oracle to develop a Raspberry PI-based DIY (do it yourself) solution within a Nespresso coffee machine, which demonstrates the functionality of Deutsche Telekom's M2M offerings. Connected Cars are one of the main drivers of M2M adoption. The European Union has decided that, from 2015, all newly-registered motor vehicles must be equipped with an eCall emergency call system. This demonstration will show a prototype car based on Lego Mindstorms that sends sensor data (e.g. collision detection) via SMS, telephone or Internet. The demonstration underlines the possibilities for M2M, from autonomic cars to remote-controlled robots.
Arduino controlled electric toys
Building M2M solutions is getting easier thanks to a bunch of prototyping platforms such as .Net Gadgeteer, Netduino, Raspberry PI and Alike. Based on probably the most well-known platform, Arduino, this presentation will show a basic scenario with actuators and sensors controlling electric toys. These electric toys reflect possible real world scenarios such as industrial machines which, by simply changing the electric circuit, can be controlled by actuators and sensors.
