BROMONT, CANADA - Cogiscan, the leading track, trace and control solution provider for the electronics manufacturing industry, announces that it was selected by Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing, a division of the Daimler AG family, to provide process validation, route control and traceability for its DMR Electronics facility in Hibbing, MN. The Cogiscan platform is deployed factory-wide to monitor the assembly of engine control modules for on and off-highway diesel engine applications. For such a critical application, Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing demands the highest levels of quality assurance and traceability possible.
"Cogiscan's data collection system is supporting our efforts to collect serial numbers, manufacturer part numbers, and lot numbers for our live and historical data," commented David Rhode, Plant Operations Manager at Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing-DMR. "Specially designed routings capture and validate material input while ensuring all quality steps before shipment of product. Cogiscan's interface has worked well in integrating with our surface mount technology (SMT) equipment, automated optical inspection, X-ray, in-circuit test, leak test equipment and specially designed functional test systems."
DMR Electronics uses Cogiscan's scalable platform from initial substrate bake (pre-SMT) through final pack-out. Along the way, it interrupts production if incorrect or expired raw materials reside at any operation. If a product fails a test or inspection step, it is prevented from moving to the next operation until repair and successful retest. All component and raw material lot code data, operational route history, and QC results are associated with the individual product serial number. This enables Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing-DMR Electronics to know and report the complete as-built history for every single unit leaving the facility.
"Cogiscan's technical staff and customer service has been very professional and supportive. Given the opportunity to setup another continuous flow line, we would absolutely consider working with Cogiscan to integrate into our SMT and mechanical assembly lines," added Rhode.
