CHATSWORTH, CA - MARCH XX, 2007 - Delta Tau Data Systems, the technology leader in multi-axis programmable motion control solutions, and Panasonic Electric Works Corporation of America, have announced the world class Turbo PMAC2 for Realtime Express(TM) (RTEX). The control for Panasonic A4N servomotors and drives, based on the Panasonic Realtime Express(TM) (RTEX) network, provides a cost-efficient and performance packed system that delivers high speed, high resolution, single Ethernet cable connectivity, and precise synchronization.
"With demand accelerating for lower cost multi-axis solutions, Delta Tau's new Turbo PMAC2 for Realtime Express(TM) coupled with Panasonic Realtime Express(TM) networked A4N servo motors and drives provides customers around the world with a performance-packed yet highly cost-efficient motion control system," said Philippe Gaspard, Sr. Business Development Manager, Panasonic Electric Works Corporation of America.
"Our new Turbo PMAC2 for Realtime Express(TM) enables precise multi-axis performance from Panasonic Realtime Express(TM) networks using A4N servo motors and drives," said Dominic Dimitri, manager sales and marketing, Delta Tau Data Systems. "The power of Delta Tau's Turbo PMAC combined with Panasonic Realtime Express provides a world class controller with high reliability and cost-efficient performance."
The high performance controller provides the software features of the Turbo PMAC2, while RTEX drives process servo and commutation tasks. The RTEX Turbo PMAC2 simultaneously controls up to 32 axes at a speed close to a 2-kHz servo loop (0.5 ms cycle time) and 8-kHz commutation and digital current loop. Half of the Turbo PMAC2's processing power is used for axes control, while the other half is available for other tasks.
As a standalone-controller, the RTEX Turbo PMAC2 reduces processing and communication demands on the host computer. This is achieved by eliminating delays and overhead caused by relating events through a central computer to start events on another controller or I/O board. This substantially improves throughput and performance.
Programming is easy because Realtime Express(TM) Turbo PMAC2 supports up to 16 coordinate systems with independent, yet overlapping motion sequences for each system.
OEM's utilizing Panasonic's Realtime Express(TM) network get the advantage of such powerful Turbo PMAC features as:
o Up to 32 axes of simultaneous control (0.5 ms cycle time) o Up to 16 independent coordinate systems o Multitasking of up to 16 motion programs and 64 asynchronous PLC programs o Easy-to-use, high-level programming language o Linear, circular, rapid, B-spline, Hermite-spline interpolation modes o True S-curve accel/decel for jerk-limited profiles o Dynamic multi-move lookahead for robust acceleration control o Path retrace capability o Coordinate system translation and rotation, 2D and 3D o Embedded forward and inverse kinematic routines for non-Cartesian geometries o Tool-radius compensation
The Panasonic Realtime Express(TM) protocol is an all-digital minimal-hardware control architecture allowing the use of low-cost Ethernet cables with Panasonic (Matsushita Electric) MINAS A4N servo drive systems. The system provides high speed, high resolution, simplified wiring and precision synchronization. Shielded twisted-pair cable reduces system costs, while providing IEC61000-4-4 compliant noise resistance allowing excellent servo performance.
