Dean Starovasnik of Peach State Integrated Technologies to Address HK System's 24th Annual Material Handling and Logistics Conference

(ATLANTA) July 15, 2009 - Dean Starovasnik, Director of Solution Development, Global Consulting and Engineering at Peach State Integrated Technologies will address the 24th annual Material Handling and Logistics Conference in Park City, UT on Monday September 14, 2009 at 9:00 a.m.

Mr. Starovasnik's presentation will be titled "A Case for Case Handling" and will focus on case handling solutions in the face of shrinking back room inventories and smaller, more frequent orders. Dean's perspective will examine and compare the growing continuum of technologies available to receive, store, select, palletize and convey the mighty case through today's supply chain. This session will uncover the key criteria associated with automation and when to, and perhaps more importantly, when NOT to apply automation.

"To achieve success within any logistics or material handling operation, there must be an understanding of the entire system to determine how best to improve any single component or function within that system", says Starovasnik. "Key take-aways from this session will be familiarity with the automation spectrum available, instruction on identifying the criteria used to determine applicability for automation and the ability to see automation within the global context of the user's entire operation."

Starovasnik, a 15 year industry veteran, has extensive experience in material handling systems and global supply chain consulting and engineering. Dean began his professional career as a naval officer specializing in surface warfare and space operations. This high technology perspective coupled with the leadership responsibilities equips him to manage the efforts of Peach State's sophisticated distribution center systems design teams. His specialization is in gaining a comprehensive understanding of his clients' operations, then mapping that understanding over into current generation systems designs. Dean received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He earned his Master of Science degree in Systems Technology (Space Systems Operations) from the Naval Postgraduate School.
