Press release date: March 18, 2009

(Fulton, N.Y.)--Davis-Standard, LLC will promote several converting technologies at the upcoming NPE show, including its new extrusion coating product line. Introduced in early 2008, this versatile line provides processors with a comprehensive line of extrusion coating equipment from a single-source supplier to support basic applications, all the way up to those with high-speed, complex requirements. This line has been well received by the market due to a fast delivery and range of options to accommodate various processes and budgets.

The innovative line for extrusion coating is available in three models- 300, 450 and 750 - each one reflecting approximate line speed capabilities in meters per minute. The 300 is engineered for customers who desire to enter new markets or grow their business with a modest investment. The 450 provides greater output and automation, while the 750 offers the fastest line speeds and most options for large-scale production applications. All three can be tailored for customer specific flexible packaging applications. They also combine the very best technologies of each brand within Davis-Standard's Converting Systems Group.

Other technical advances from Davis-Standard include the patented pressurized gravure head (PGH) technology and high-speed cast stretch film lines engineered in four-up, six-up and eight-up configurations. This includes inline hand wrap winders with 25-second cycle times and those capable of winding 500mm diameter rolls. In the area of blown film, Davis-Standard offers a complete line of equipment and systems for geomembrane, industrial films and bags, agricultural and construction films, barrier films, stretch films, can liners and laminating films. The company's new blown film pilot line will be shown as a video presentation. Davis-Standard also has the experience and knowledge for difficult and demanding processes like fluoropolymers, biopolymers, and barrier resins addressing a range of end markets applications such as photovoltaics, aerospace, biodegradable packaging and surface protecting films.

Davis-Standard will also be demonstrating its latest control system technology for its converting equipment with the DS5, Integrator C and Integrator Pro. The DS5 (Davis-Standard Secure Service Support System) enables service personnel to respond to customer needs, diagnose, and fix problems via a secure, high-speed Internet connection. Customers, regardless of location, can minimize lengthy downtimes by giving Davis-Standard service personnel and engineers immediate online access to their equipment. Davis-Standard will also be demonstrating the Integrator C, a new single-point system to replace obsolete CMR systems. The Integrator C has the functionality of previous systems, but with additional features such as recipe management, historical data trending and alarms. It also features a new PLC drive interface, improved temperature controls and enhanced gauge control based on the age of the existing gauge system.
