The chief operating officer position is a new position created at T. M. Smith Tool. In this position, David Smith will be responsible for all the day-to-day activities of manufacturing, engineering, sales, marketing and business development.
David Smith has been with T.M. Smith Tool since 1997 when he came to the company to become the operations manager and ultimately the vice president of operations. His father is Fred Smith, T.M. Smith's CEO. Prior to coming to T.M. Smith Tool, David worked for four years for Valenite in a number of positions that included commodity contract manager and product marketing manager. Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Oakland University. He and his family reside in Rochester, Michigan.
T.M. Smith Tool International Corporation was founded in the 1957. It is a leader in the design and manufacture of quick-change tool holders for drilling, reaming and tapping. Over time, T.M. Smith has become well known, particularly in the worldwide automotive industry, for quality and innovative design and engineering. The company currently holds over 60 U.S. and international patents in tool holding technology.
