WASHINGTON--David Brancaccio, host of American Public Media’s Marketplace Morning Report, will deliver opening remarks at the Emerging Opportunities in Global Markets Forum as well as moderate the Scientific American Worldview Super Session at the 2014 BIO International Convention® in San Diego. The Convention attracts the biggest names in biotech, regularly draws 15,000 attendees, offers key networking and partnering opportunities and provides insights and inspiration on major trends affecting the industry.

“David is an impressive story-teller, and we are thrilled to have him kick-off and conclude our international program at the 2014 BIO International Convention. His engaging interview style and vast knowledge of critical issues such as the environment, national security, business innovation and finance have earned him the highest honors in broadcast journalism, including the Peabody, the Columbia-duPont and the Emmy awards,” said Scott Whitaker, president of the BIO International Convention.

Brancaccio’s first session will feature a panel of industry leaders as they discuss biotech initiatives in global markets, looking at both emerging economies and global trends that directly impact the industry’s landscape. Global Markets Forum attendees will have a robust three days of educational sessions examining developments in key markets as well as cutting-edge policy trends. Additionally, the program will examine unique collaborations and cross-border initiatives to further innovation.

The forum will wrap up with the Scientific American Worldview Super Session – BIOTECH: We are the World, Thursday, June 26, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. PDT. Moderated by Brancaccio, this event will explore key themes from Scientific American’s annual biotechnology edition, featuring the Worldview Scorecard and fresh perspectives on international life science development.

Scientific American Worldview editors will participate in a Google+ Hangout, March 25, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. EDT, to preview the main themes of this year’s Scorecard. Editors will discuss the ways in which investing in science has multilayered societal returns, the biggest issues in biotech that continue to “flatten” the world and create common missions among countries and the ever-changing landscape of international innovation.
