Press release date: October 16, 2007

(October 16, 2007) - DataLase, originator of the award winning DataLase® process, has confirmed its place as a leading technology company by scooping three top industry awards for its innovative range of patented mass customization solutions.

Manufacturing & Industry Today and the R&D 100 Awards both selected DataLase to win an award, confirming the company's position as a market leader in imaging technology. DataLase also received a highly commended award in the Supply Chain Solution category at the recent UK Packaging awards, the company's third major success in four months.

As a result of the company's continual commitment to delivering the full benefit of mass customization to primary and secondary packaging, DataLase was selected to receive the BA Technology Company of the Year Award from Manufacturing & Industry Today. The award recognizes the company's extensive product range that incorporates solutions for primary and secondary packaging, alternatives to print-and-apply labels, as well as future plans to develop direct tablet and food marking applications.

DataLase® CASEMARKTM Flexo, an innovative imaging solution for secondary packaging, was recognized as one of the 100 most technologically significant new products of 2007 in the 45th annual R&D 100 Awards. The R&D 100 Awards are presented to products that exhibit superiority to existing technology as well as providing simple solutions to complex or long-standing technical or practical problems. DataLase CASEMARK Flexo offers unique benefits over traditional printing processes by providing precise customized information applications in a number of sectors including pharmaceutical and food and beverage.

The company's third award came at the recent UK Packaging Awards where the DataLase® CASEMARKTM Tape imaging station was named as 'High Commended in the Supply Chain Solution' category. The new imaging station is an innovative label replacement solution, used to apply customized information to outer case secondary packaging. This solution combines a proprietary applicator with DataLase CASEMARK Tape plus a low powered laser system, thus helping to increase productivity, reduce downtime and eliminate barcoding errors. The print engine is efficient with almost 100% production up time, and requires little maintenance and no replacing of print heads due to deterioration.

The patented DataLase process uses a laser reactive coating, which undergoes a color change reaction when exposed to a low powered laser. This innovative imaging solution can be used to apply a wide range of customized information to primary and secondary packaging. The DataLase process is suitable for brand protection, document security and on-product marking applications.

Steve Kelly, CEO at DataLase comments: "DataLase is committed to the research and development of innovative mass customization solutions while providing customer satisfaction. We are very proud that this has been recognized by industry experts resulting in these three prestigious achievements. "
