DSTI Hosts Brooklyn Junior High STEM Students For Manufacturing Tour

DSTI hosted over 40 middle school students from Brooklyn Junior High's Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program.

The group had a chance to meet DSTI engineers, assembly technicians, quality specialists, CNC programmers and machinists as well as tour the manufacturing facility.

Troy Land, Director of Operations for DSTI was among the volunteers who guided a group of students through the design and execution of the manufacturing process.

"This opportunity was very rewarding," said Land. "We enjoy sharing how we implement the latest in design and manufacturing technologies and are very proud of our culture and facility here at DSTI."

The tour provided a chance to lead and educate students about highly specialized mechanical engineering technology and promote career opportunities in modern manufacturing.

"It's always great to expose our students to real world applications that they are learning about," said PLTW (Project Lead the Way) teacher Anna Dougherty.
