DOE Hosts Record Number of Attendees at Annual Small Business Conference



Washington, D.C. - The U.S. Department of Energy, the largest civilian contracting agency within the Federal government, is convening its 11th Annual Small Business Conference & Expo at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia from May 10-12, 2010. Drawing more than 1,700 participants, an all-time high for this event, the conference and expo will present information to help small businesses across the country capitalize on Recovery Act Funding, grant opportunities, contracting openings, and subcontracting options.

"We are encouraged by the many success stories of small businesses that we work with every day," said Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu. "Small businesses are the building blocks of the emerging clean energy economy, and their innovation helps drive the advances of clean technology."

The Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) will discuss over $300 million in upcoming funding opportunities with small business leaders who are looking to showcase their strengths and navigate the government contracting process. One-on-one matchmaking sessions and workshops led by DOE procurement analysts and small business specialists will teach small business owners to identify funding opportunities and gain a greater understanding of how to do business with the Department.

The 11th Annual Small Business Conference & Expo also features an Award Luncheon to honor the Fiscal Year 2009 Secretarial Small Business Award recipients. The Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utililization has the full list of award recipients.
