December 2008 - DEWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, launches its first 14.4V XRP(TM) Lithium Ion battery (DC9144). The 14.4V XRP(TM) Lithium Ion battery is compatible with any existing DEWALT 14.4V tool, providing professional contractors with the flexibility to select the best battery chemistry to meet jobsite demands.
The 14.4V XRP(TM) Lithium Ion battery is designed with Nano-Phosphate Lithium Ion cells, which is a proprietary technology from DEWALT that offers a combination of longer cycle life, lighter weight and greater performance. The 14.4V XRP(TM) Lithium Ion battery provides users with increased battery durability and cycle life, offering 2,000 recharges. The backwards compatibility of the 14.4V XRP(TM) Lithium Ion battery enables users to continue to expand upon their existing 14.4V platform and use any DEWALT 14.4V battery with any of the 16 existing DEWALT 14.4V tools.
The addition of the 14.4V XRP(TM) Lithium Ion battery reflects the DEWALT commitment to providing professional contractors with a breadth of tool offerings that deliver the performance they need in an ideal ergonomic package.
