DAP Technologies introduces MICROFLEX rugged mobile computers to new European markets


DAP Technologies, a leading manufacturer of rugged mobile computers for harsh environments, today announced the launch of its MICROFLEX line in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Benelux, and Scandinavia. The move is part of a global expansion strategy, fuelled by the strengthening demand for rugged, reliable and adaptable mobile computers and solutions throughout Europe.

MICROFLEX handheld computers are suitable for a range of industries including utilities, emergency services, public safety, meter reading, maintenance, and transportation and logistics. MICROFLEX computers are built to handle rough treatment and harsh environmental conditions - they are heat, cold, dust, water and shock resistant.

DAP Technologies will begin by offering their best-selling units in the region: the highly adaptable MICROFLEX CE3240 handheld; and the rugged MICROFLEX CE8800 series of tablet-style mobile computers.

Weighing only 443 grams, the MICROFLEX CE3240 provides reliability and outstanding functionality. An ideal tool for any demanding mobile application, it is equipped with an Intel XScale PXA255 400 MHz processor and runs the latest Windows CE 5.0 operating system from Microsoft. Supporting optional 2D barcode scanning, the MICROFLEX CE3240 also offers wireless connectivity options including GPRS and CDMA 1X RTT WWAN, 802.11b WLAN.

The multi-modular unit allows users to easily add wireless, GPS, 2D imager barcode reader and RFID reader, in almost any combination. Having the industry's first multiple SDIO slot support and one full PCMCIA slot, the MICROFLEX CE3240 offers unrivalled flexibility.

The extreme durability of the MICROFLEX CE8800 series of mobile computers means data is safe, even under extreme work and weather conditions. This unit is ideal to support a variety of data management field requirements in many service sectors, including: transportation and delivery services; logistics; and emergency services, including fire, ambulance and police. Plus, the high-resolution full-VGA color screen is easy to read, for indoor, outdoor or in-vehicle applications.

The MICROFLEX CE8800 runs the latest Microsoft Windows CE .NET operating system, with an Intel XScale RISC 400 MHz processor and 64MB of internal Flash memory and RAM, which means fast processing and ample storage.
