Curtiss-Wright Includes DO-160 Commercial Aviation Environmental Testing for Latest Parvus® Computers, Routers, and Switches at No Additional Cost

New initiative goes beyond traditional MIL-STD testing for small form-factor COTS solutions to address growing demand from commercial aviation market

ASHBURN, Va. – Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) today announced that its Defense Solutions division has expanded the standard environmental testing regimen for its industry-leading Parvus® family of Computers, Routers, and Switches to include FAA-mandated RTCA/DO-160 environmental and EMI certification at no additional cost to the customer. Responding to increasing interest from commercial aviation market customers in its broad range of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) subsystem solutions, going forward, Curtiss-Wright will support civil aviation requirements by providing RTCA/DO-160 Qualification Test Reports for its latest and next-generation Parvus DuraCOR®, DuraMAR®, DuraNET®, and DuraWORX® subsystem products. The new initiative eliminates the additional cost that customers would otherwise incur from NRE-funded "delta" testing or "qualification-by-similarity" analysis of existing MIL-STD certified products. Support for RTCA/DO-160 testing across the Parvus product line promises to speed and ease the integration of these rugged SWaP-C optimized small form-factor line replaceable units (LRUs) into commercial airborne platforms.

"We are very excited by the market opportunities opened up by expanding our standard Parvus family product testing to include RTCA/DO-160 qualification," said Lynn Bamford, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Defense Solutions division. "The commercial aviation market has identified the rugged SWaP-C packaging of our COTS compute and networking Parvus subsystems as a great match for many platforms. By providing the expanded testing we will speed our entrée into this market segment while delivering proven solutions designed for optimal performance in harsh airborne environments."

The new Commercial Aviation RTCA/DO-160 Qualification Test initiative will apply across the entire Parvus product family for the newest and next generation DuraCOR (computing), DuraMAR (network routing), DuraNET (network switching) products as well as combination solutions such as the recently announced DuraWORX subsystem. The first Parvus products to offer RTCA/DO-160 certification are the DuraCOR 80-40, DuraNET 20-10, DuraNET 30-2020, DuraMAR 5915 2X Series, DuraMAR 5915 3x Series and the DuraWORX 10-10.
