Philadelphia, PA - CROWN Asia-Pacific Holdings Ltd., a division of Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) (Crown) (www.crowncork.com), today announced that production of the first 202 neck diameter beverage cans for the Chinese market is well underway. The initial commercial application of the smaller diameter cans will hit store shelves in the country later this month.
Long an industry standard in North America and Europe, 202 neck diameter cans offer several benefits to Chinese brand owners. For example, the smaller diameter reduces metal use during the production process, leading to environmental savings. The cans are also easily adaptable to existing canmaking equipment and suitable for the filling of beer, carbonated soft drinks (CSDs), energy drinks, teas and other beverages.

The cans are currently being produced at Crown's Hangzhou facility. However, production of 202 neck diameter cans will be supported in all new Crown plants being built in China.
