Creative Pultrusions, Inc. awarded contract to provide fiberglass distribution poles to Los Angeles Department of Water & Power

Alum Bank, PA - August 10, 2010 - Creative Pultrusions, Inc. ("Creative Pultrusions"), a leading manufacturer of high-strength pultruded products, announced today that it has been awarded a contract to supply fiberglass distribution poles to the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power (LADWP). The award, for $2.97 million, is for a term of one year with two optional one-year periods.

"We are pleased to once again be partnering with DWP in supplying fiberglass distribution poles to the Department" said Bob Guilliams, Technical Sales Manager for Creative Pultrusions, Inc's Powertrusion Products Utility Division. "Southern California, in general, and the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area, in particular, present a unique set of challenges for overhead distribution structures, including diverse temperatures, lightning, fire, corrosive coastal, and rugged and inac¬cessible terrain", Guilliams said. The light weight and non-conductive nature of the fiberglass poles makes their installation and maintenance both easier and safer.

LADWP is the largest municipal utility in the United States, serving over four million residents. It was founded in 1902 to supply water and electricity to residents and businesses in Los Angeles and surrounding communities. The LADWP receives no tax support, and contributes about $190 million annually to the revenues of the city of Los Angeles. Throughout its system, LADWP maintains more than 300,000 power poles, more than 100,000 overhead transformers, and more than 6,000 miles of overhead distribution lines.

Creative Pultrusions is a world-class pultruder that utilizes the most advanced manufacturing processes to provide high-end profiles. Originally founded in 1973, CPI was acquired by Hill & Smith Holdings PLC (HS) in September 2008. A global leader in the design, manufacture and supply of infrastructure products, galvanizing services and building and construction products, HS has sales of over $700 million. Headquartered in the UK and quoted on the London Stock Exchange, HS employs some 3,300 staff across 54 sites, principally in the UK, France, USA, Thailand and China.
