DUBLIN, - Cooper Lighting, Cooper B-Line and Cooper Notification, subsidiaries of Cooper Industries plc (NYSE: CBE), a global provider of electrical solutions, have been selected as Gold and Silver award winners in Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine's 2011 Product of the Year competition.

The annual Product of the Year awards, created to provide information on the top new products in the field, allows readers to choose Gold, Silver and Bronze winners in ten separate categories.

This year, Cooper Lighting, an industry leader committed to delivering innovative products and driving transformational technology in the lighting industry, was awarded a Gold honor in the Lighting Controls Category for its McGraw-Edison Ventus outdoor LED area luminaire and qualified as a finalist for its Portfolio LED Downlights. Cooper B-Line, a global provider of innovative, labor-saving support systems and enclosure solutions for engineered facility subsystem applications, and Cooper Notification, a leading supplier of Life Safety and Mass Notification System (MNS) solutions, both took home Silver awards for the ARISTA Monolithic Solar Racking System and SAFEPATH Mass Notification System (MNS) in the Electrical Distribution and Fire, Life Safety and Mass Notification categories respectively.

Cooper Lighting's Gold award-winning product, the McGraw-Edison Ventus outdoor LED luminaire, was designed to provide uniform and energy-efficient illumination for parking lots, building areas, roadways and for security lighting applications. The product incorporates modular LED LightBAR(TM) technology featuring a patented AccuLED Optics(TM) system providing a choice of 13 optical distributions to maximize lighting efficiency and fulfill the exact needs of the outdoor space. The LED lighting fixtures offer a long-life of up to 50,000 hours.

Engineered to offer specifiers both a cost and labor savings, Cooper B-Line recently introduced the Silver-winning ARISTA(TM) Monolithic Racking Systems for solar PV commercial rooftop applications. Featuring pre-assembled hardware, ARISTA racking systems offer quick assembly and eliminate the need for field adjustments. They also offer expansion splice plates to quickly connect rails and include DURA-BLOK(TM) rooftop supports made of 100 percent recycled rubber to reduce potential wear. The system is now available with integrated module grounding to simplify the installation.

Cooper Notification also took home a Silver Medal for its SAFEPATH Mass Notification Systems (MNS), ideal for a wide range of industries, including healthcare, education, commercial, industrial and government buildings. Compliant with the latest MNS codes and standards, UL 2572 and NFPA 72 2010, SAFEPATH integrates with a facility's addressable fire alarm system to provide a complete in-building solution. It provides personnel and building occupants with intelligible live and pre-recorded voice messages that communicate what to do in response to an emergency. The system manages all audio and visual notification devices in the emergency communications system and features a modular and flexible design to meet the functional requirements of an emergency response plan as well as the complexities of the latest fire codes.
