Cooper Appoints Director, Investor Relations


HOUSTON, Aug. 22, 2006 - Cooper Industries, Ltd. (NYSE:CBE) today announced the appointment of Jon Safran as director of investor relations. Safran, who will join Cooper from Austin-based Dell Inc. later this month, will hold additional responsibilities in business development and strategic planning. He will report to Cooper's Senior Vice President of Business Development C. Thomas O'Grady.

"Jon Safran brings to Cooper solid experience in conveying complex global operating and financial information to investors, shareholders and customers," said O'Grady. "His knowledge of financial dynamics across a broad portfolio of products and services with industries in the manufacturing and industrial sectors provides an excellent fit as we look to expand our visibility with the investment communities. He also brings strong capabilities in strategic planning as we pursue more technical and global acquisitions."

During his six-year tenure with Dell, Safran has served in a variety of increasingly responsible roles in finance and operations. He has served in investor relations at Dell, working directly with the company's chief financial officer. Safran has worked as a global sales controller, responsible for financial management of the company's business in key segments including automotive, information technology, telecommunications, aerospace and retail. As Dell's services controller for its global corporate customer segment, he managed pricing for large accounts.

Additional roles have included experience in global financial services and supply chain e-business. Cooper Appoints Director, Investor Relations Prior to joining Dell, Safran worked for Intel Corporation and Detroit Edison. He earned an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan, and a B.A. in economics and political science from Swarthmore College.
