BALLSTON SPA, N.Y., July 17 /-- Magsoft Corporation announced today that Motor-CAD Version 4 is available for distribution. This new release, co-developed with Motor Design Ltd. of Shropshire, UK, offers new simulation, post-processing, and analysis technologies. Magsoft's simulation tool delivers revolutionary insight into machine cooling when things start to heat up.
Motor-CAD V4 now boasts customized template editors for the following machine types:
o Brushless permanent magnet motors o Brushless permanent magnet motors with an outside rotor o Brush permanent magnet motors o Single & Three-phase Induction motors o Switched reluctance motors o Synchronous generators o Claw pole generators
Many new improvements have been made to this release of Motor-CAD; the product now contains the following pre-processing innovations:
o Additional options for rotor and stator type definitions o Template Editor controls for zooming, panning and measuring component features o Improved import/ export features for the definition of Duty Cycle Behaviors
The thermal solution review process has been updated in Motor-CAD and now contains the following:
o Window for viewing the comprehensive equivalent circuit created for a given machine o Ability to modify this circuit and to add nodes and components o The display of Temperature Data directly onto the various machine components o Improved transient graph controls including new cursor review features o Export of all solution data directly to text or spreadsheet formats
Additionally, Motor-CAD now leverages its ActiveX foundation. This enables the user to do a full range of sensitivity analysis or design experiments for key machine parameters and features. Simply identify a set of machine features; provide a range of alternative values and let Motor-CAD do the work to establish either the most sensitive feature or the optimal cooling configuration.
According to Tan Pham, Technical Director of Magsoft, "Motor-CAD allows a machine designer to take a multi-physics approach towards machine design. These new capabilities within Motor-CAD are going to facilitate creative ideas and innovations for machine performance.
