Speeds design time, aids product realization

November 2007, Minneapolis, USA...Omnetics, the leading manufacturer of miniature high rel connectors, has announced that configurable models are now available as downloadable files for its range of nano (0.025in pitch) and micro (0.050in pitch) miniature connectors.

These models enable the user to quickly and simply configure a connector with the required number of contacts, termination type, numbers of guide pins and latches, RoHS compliance etc. The drawing can then be imported into Solidworks or one of many other standard industry engineering drawing software packages. This saves considerable time and effort for the design engineer. Moreover, having the configurable models freely available also decreases "guessing" errors because they are created to size with all available termination options. Once imported, models can be moved and manipulated within a design. Positioning can be checked for size constraints, measurements can be taken, and board layouts determined.
