September 2, 2010 - Trucking Industry Mobility and Technology Coalition (TIMTC) will facilitate Truck IntelliDrive(SM) and Smart Roadside session at Technology and Maintenance Council's (TMC) 2010 Fall Meeting in Raleigh, NC on September 22. Through this session, motor carriers can provide U.S. DOT with direct feedback on onboard technology issues. There will also be discussion of National Academy of Sciences' (NAS) large truck fuel efficiency study as well as update on joint EPA/NHTSA rulemaking efforts.

ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Trucking Industry Mobility and Technology Coalition (TIMTC) will facilitate a Truck IntelliDrive(SM) and Smart Roadside session at the Technology and Maintenance Council's (TMC) 2010 Fall Meeting in Raleigh, North Carolina on September 22, 2010. Through this session, motor carriers can provide the U.S. DOT with direct feedback on onboard technology issues. Also included in this session will be a discussion of the National Academy of Sciences' (NAS) large truck fuel efficiency study as well as an update on the joint EPA/NHTSA rulemaking efforts.

The IntelliDrive(SM) Program is a major initiative of the Research and Innovative Technology Administration's (RITA) Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Program, in collaboration with NHTSA, FMCSA and FHWA. The large truck component of this program focuses on advancing connectivity among commercial vehicles and roadway infrastructure to improve transportation safety and mobility.

The Trucking Industry Mobility & Technology Coalition is jointly managed by the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), the U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) and the American Trucking Associations (ATA). The TIMTC is sponsored by the U.S. DOT. Members include motor carriers, commercial drivers, law enforcement, technology providers, equipment manufacturers, transportation planners and policy makers at the local, state and federal levels.
