PORTLAND, OR - AUGUST 2010 - It's said that what you don't know can't hurt you, but the engineers and field reps at Columbia Steel see it otherwise, and they plan to help visitors to their booth at ConExpo-Con/Agg get the knowledge needed for informed choices about wear parts.
Gathering real-world equipment data -- like feed and discharge information, throughput rates, change out records, and measurements on worn parts -- is a crucial first step toward improving crusher operations and reducing downtime. These "wear studies" allow plant operators and their suppliers to select the right wear part designs and alloys for a given job based on facts, not guesswork.
"We want to get the word out at ConExpo about wear studies," says Alan George, Columbia Steel Communications Manager. "We know from decades of field experience that many crusher OEMs generally offer wear part designs based on average conditions, but few crusher operators actually work under 'average' conditions." George adds that attendees at the Las Vegas show will be able to ask Columbia engineers questions about wear studies and productivity issues at Booth 5051 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

ConExpo-Con/Agg is the largest international trade show for construction industries in North America. Taking place every three years, the next show is scheduled for March 22-26, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
