National Author to Open 2012 Clean Energy Workforce Education Conference
Alexis Madrigal, a senior editor for The Atlantic and author of Powering the Dream: The History and Promise of Green Technology, will give the opening address on November 14, 2012, at The 5th National Clean Energy Workforce Education Conference.
American history is full of creative green technologies. Powering the Dream walks through the history of these breakthroughs-why some of these innovations have been forgotten, what we can learn from them, and what they might contribute to a greener, more sustainable future. Using his Green Tech Timeline, Madrigal analyzes the forces that have shaped the energy and utility industries.
Jane Weissman, executive director of the Interstate Renewable Energy Council, says, "Mr. Madrigal looks at green technology from an historic perspective and tells us why these stories matter today and how we can learn from them."
Madrigal launched The Atlantic's new Technology Channel. He is the lead writer as well as host. Formerly at Wired.com, Mr. Madrigal followed science and technology for Wired.com and was a major contributor to its blog "Wired Science."
The Clean Energy Workforce Education Conference is the one national event that brings training leaders together providing participants the opportunity to hear about curricula development, career pathways, and best practices for energy efficiency and renewable energy training. The conferencewill be held in Albany, New York, November 13-15, 2012, with technical workshops on November 13 and conference sessions on November 14 and 15.
