Toronto, ON - Classifier Milling Systems, a leading developer and manufacturer of complex size reduction and air pollution control systems, has developed an advanced milling technology that will eliminate the use of liquid nitrogen in the production of polymers, plastics, and low density polyethylene compounds. As a significant innovation in raw materials processing, this new technology has the potential to greatly reduce the costs as well as enhance the safety of processing these materials. Studies have shown that all materials produced using this new technology exhibit the same characteristics as those produced using traditional methods, so no changes would be required in manufacturing processes and products that use raw materials produced using this new methodology. Liquid nitrogen is used when processing linear low density polyethylene (LLDP) and recycled plastics to cool the systems and keep the material from softening when it's exposed to heat generated by the grinding process. The new technology developed by Classifier Milling Systems runs much cooler than traditional systems while still providing the same chamber sizes and production rates. Eliminating the use of liquid nitrogen will result in considerable savings - as much as 50 percent of production costs - as well as enhance the safety of the work environment. Workers will no longer risk exposure to the gas, which can cause severe frostbite if it comes in contact with the skin, and the use of cumbersome protective gear will no longer be required. In addition, special storage areas for the pressurized canisters can also be eliminated.
