CIMPortal Tops 20,000 Parameters Per Second, Double the ISMI Guidelines

SAN FRANCISCO, July 16 / / - Cimetrix, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: CMXX), a leading provider of factory automation software and solutions for the global semiconductor and electronics industries announced today that the latest release of its award winning CIMPortal(TM) solution has shattered industry performance levels and expectations of the Interface A standards developed by Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) in cooperation with International SEMATECH Manufacturing Initiative (ISMI). Cimetrix plans to demonstrate these new milestones at the upcoming SEMICON West 2007 show in San Francisco July 17-19.

Interface A is often referred to as EDA (Equipment Data Acquisition). It consists of SEMI standards E120, E121, E125, E132, E134 and the E147 guideline. Interface A is the key enabler to providing high-quality, well documented data for use by Integrated Device Manufacturers (IDMs) in an effort to improve yields through advanced software applications such Advanced Process Control (APC).

The prior release of the Cimetrix implementation of Interface A with its award winning CIMPortal solution, exceeded the two performance guidelines from ISMI of 50+ parameters per chamber at 10 Hz and 10,000 parameters per second. However, the company had discussions with several IDMs that will actually require 20,000 parameters per second, doubling the ISMI guidelines. Based on this market feedback, the latest CIMPortal release (1.1) has extensive performance improvements providing a very high speed Interface A implementation of over 20,000 parameters per second.

"Cimetrix believes that a key driver for Interface A is high performance, and our CIMPortal technology continues to demonstrate its leadership," stated Dave Faulkner, executive vice president of sales and marketing. "Equipment suppliers must satisfy the performance needs of all IDMs, and they cannot be put into a position of non-compliance due to performance. Interface A uses XML and SOAP, two technologies that are not known for high speed. We invested 3 beta cycles over 2 years to optimize CIMPortal performance to where it is today. By leading the industry and providing an excellent performance safety factor, CIMPortal provides a safe, reliable solution for the adoption of the Interface A standard."

CIMPortal is unique in providing a secure APC data path to existing fab tools that only have the older SECS-GEM data port and to new tools as they hit the fab floor with an embedded EDA data port. CIMPortal also allows the high speed output of data via Interface A or local storage of the data to an industrial database. "Our analysis points out that the IDMs have different strategies in terms of performance and management of data. We have responded to this with the industry's highest performance solution, several options for delivery and storage, and the formation of the Data Management Solutions Center to assist IDMs with specific implementations," explained Faulkner.

Cimetrix will be demonstrating Interface A performance and various implementation options at the Cimetrix booth #5570 in North Hall at SEMICON West in San Francisco on July 17-19, 2007.
