Press release date: October 9, 2006

TRENTON, Mich., Oct. 9 -- Chrysler Group's Trenton (Mich.) Engine Plant (TEP) opened its doors to the public yesterday in a celebration for its employees, retirees and their families and offered a preview of the Company's all-new 4.0-liter V-6 engine. Production of the new engine, which will be used in the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica and Dodge Nitro, started last week.

The plant festivities included product displays, plant tours, games, prizes and giveaways to all of the attendees. Trenton Mayor Gerald Brown greeted plant guests along with Plant Manager Andy Caribbean and Local Union President Bryce Cobb Jr.

Trenton Engine hosts an open house every year to thank area residents, plant employees and the community for its support. The new 4.0-liter V-6 engine is the result of a $300 million investment in Trenton Engine last year. Trenton Engine currently manufactures the redesigned 3.8-liter V-6 and the all new 4.0-liter V-6.

"Chrysler Group made this investment in our employees and facilities to ensure that we will be competitive in the global marketplace," said Caribbean. "The new engine is the most powerful V-6 in the Chrysler Group lineup and the Trenton Engine family is proud to build this engine. "

Trenton Engine and the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund are active in the Trenton community and have supported several community activities in the Trenton area, including the Downriver Youth Performing Arts Center, the Seaway Chorale Orchestra, City of Trenton: A Taste of Trenton Beyond, Mercer Community College Automotive Program (CAP) and the Trenton Rotary Club. Chrysler Group is the largest employer in Trenton. The 2.1 million square-foot Trenton Engine Plant has approximately 1,600 employees represented by UAW Locals 372, 889, and 412.
