Cost effective chip wringers help reclaim more coolant plus dry chips more thoroughly for easier, cleaner disposal - providing lower costs in both areas
At IMTS 2006, Mayfran International, a world leading producer of chip handling and coolant processing systems demonstrated their ability to increase scrap values by drying chips more thoroughly, and to reclaim more metalworking fluids to save on coolant/lubricant replacement costs with the VBU Chip Wringer, an economical method for reclaiming coolant for processing/reuse ideal for use at individual machine tools.
In operation to dry chips, separate coolant and discharge both in a virtually untended, maintenance-free operation, the VBU units are simplistic - chips are continuously metered and fed into the unit's charge funnel and deposited into the spinning bowl. Chips quickly accelerate to that of the bowl's RPM at which point centrifugal and high G-forces drive the chips (and coolant) up the side walls. Coolant outlet slots, located just below the bowl's upper rim allow the fluid, by now wrung from the chips, to be discharged and directed to further processing or reuse. The chips continue being driven up and pass over the bowl's rim where they are guided by the wringer housing and discharge chute to a discharge conveyor or chip bin.
VBU Wringers from Mayfran are available in standard sizes to process from 150 liters/hour (150 kg/h) steel chips up to 1000 l/h (1000 kg/h) of scrap materials.
The Mayfran IMTS exhibit also included a variety of filtration and chip handling technologies such as the VacuFilter for operations requiring fine coolant separation, the CCC Coolant Control Center for continuous real time in-line monitoring of coolant. To optimize machine tool chip/coolant handling, a ConSep combination chip conveyor/coolant cleaning unit, a video demonstration of the FastPac Briquetter, plus the overhead-installed Viavent® centralized system for multi-machine use were demonstrated.
