Press release date: March 28, 2006

CHAMPAIGN, Ill., March 28 / -- Wolfram Research announced today that China will host the next Mathematica Lecture Series tour, May 19-30, 2006, in Changchun, Tianjin, Beijing, Xi'an, Guangzhou, Nanjing, and Shanghai. Led by senior Mathematica kernel developer Dr. Yifan Hu, this first-ever Wolfram Research Tour of China will explore the impact of Mathematica's groundbreaking technologies on a wide variety of fields and provide unique insights into the future of technical computing.

The Tour begins as a record number of users in China are adopting Mathematica for large-scale applications in industry, research, and education. Dr. Hu will detail the latest advances that make this work possible, lending a rare inside look at Mathematica's development and design. In addition to a general overview of the system, his lectures, presented in Chinese, will showcase key advantages over other systems that make Mathematica the software of choice at major institutions around the world -- including all of China's top ten universities. A question-and-answer session will follow each presentation.

"Compared to any other software on the market, Mathematica is the easiest and most powerful for programming, specialized applications, visualization, and equation solving of any kind," said Professor Dazheng Ding of Beijing Union University. "It is the best assistant I could have in teaching mathematics."

Mathematica novices, experts, and others interested in the future of technical computing are encouraged to attend. All attendees will receive a free save-enabled trial CD of Mathematica. Space is limited and a high turnout is expected, so early registration is strongly recommended.

More information, including registration details and a complete schedule, is available at http://www.wolfram.com/services/seminars/china2006 . Media interviews with Dr. Hu may be arranged by contacting press@wolfram.com .
