Move Follows Recent Start-Up of Large New Compounding Line in Tennessee and Transfer of ETP Compounding Technology to Other Teknor Apex Operations in Asia

BROWNSVILLE, TN, U.S.A., January 21, 2008: Chem Polymer is installing additional engineering thermoplastics (ETP) compounding lines to the Teknor Apex facility here after relocating them from a plant in Ft. Myers, FL, it was announced by Scott E. Fleming, vice president and business manager. The Florida facility will be closed this Spring.

The move is part of a modernization program that has also included the startup, last June, of a new 24,000,000-lb. (10,900-metric ton) compounding line at the Brownsville site. While the Ft. Myers plant is a stand-alone facility that Teknor Apex Company acquired when it purchased Chem Polymer in 2004, the new Chem Polymer operation in Brownsville is part of the largest Teknor Apex site in the U.S.

"The Brownsville facility already supports three other Teknor Apex divisions with a trained industrial workforce and an extensive infrastructure for product research and testing, application development, and customer support," said Fleming. "In addition, it is strategically located for serving automotive manufacturers-the largest market for our compounds."

Chem Polymer produces nylon, acetal copolymer, PBT, and PET compounds for appliance, automotive, electrical, electronics, and other markets. Since the acquisition by Teknor Apex, it has undertaken a worldwide modernization and expansion program, shutting down older capacity and expanding its international reach through new manufacturing locations. Chem Polymer can now supply identical, specification-compliant compounds for customers no matter where in the world they operate plants, according to Fleming.

Chem Polymer products are now manufactured in these countries: o United States: Besides the major operation in Brownsville, Chem Polymer produces ETPs at another Teknor Apex facility in Lodi, OH. o United Kingdom: Chem Polymer's facility in Oldbury, West Midlands, has long served the European market. o Singapore: Singapore Polymer Corp. (SPC), another Teknor Apex business, now manufactures compounds developed by Chem Polymer to the Asian market. o China: The newly established subsidiary Teknor Apex (Suzhou) Advanced Polymer Compounds Co. will produce the ETPs at a plant started up last year in Suzhou, China.

CHEM POLYMER is an international supplier of engineering thermoplastics for the automotive, appliance, electrical/electronics, and other industries. It produces reinforced, filled, and specially modified compounds of nylon 6 and 66 (Chemlon® and Beetle®), acetal copolymer (Formax®), PBT (Durlex®), PET, and specialty nylons under the Beetle® brand. Founded in 1965, Chem Polymer was acquired by Teknor Apex in 2004.

Founded in 1924, TEKNOR APEX COMPANY is a privately held company with ten divisions and 2,000 employees.
