Cgogo Launches Online Video Search

BEIJING, Oct. 18 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Cgogo Technology, the leading mobile search engine solution provider for global mobile handset users and mobile telecom operators, announced today the launch of its internet video search service with online video frame clustering technology to Chinese market. This service also realized the data-sharing between PC and mobile handset.

In 2006, the video search service was launched in China. Most online video search engines are still based on keywords search, and do not show much technological breakthrough.

''We always believe that for everything we want to do well, we must hold our own technologies. Wireless search and video search are included in this concept'', said Mr. Bo Zhu, CEO of Cgogo technology. ''We invited experts of non-structural data analysis and video search from China and overseas to develop our video search team. We provided sufficient research funds to our team to develop self-owned brand new search technology''

Currently, most video search technologies used on Chinese video search sites are developed abroad. Those sites collect video contents into a database of video search service provider and perform the search just inside the database. The search results are totally dependent on the number of videos stored in the database, which is similar to more traditional television and movie industries, which have matured over the last twenty years. ''The online video frame clustering search successfully solved this problem. We don't have to be worry about the number of videos we have stored. All search results are directly sourced from the Internet. The database only stores the necessary frames from the original videos. Those frames are relatively short and are about a half to one minute each. This method will guarantee users receive the latest videos from the Internet,'' Mr. Zhu introduced.

The video search website of Cgogo also provides users the option to download the video they searched from the web to their mobile handset.

Mr. Zhu said, ''Today, mobile users start to accept and become familiar with receiving information using wireless Internet. They expect to be able to download contents found from the Internet to their handsets, and enjoy mobile entertainment services anytime, anywhere. Video search is helping them find videos streams and satisfy their eagerness to use mobile video content.''

According to the prediction from iResearch, in 2008, the scale of China's video search market will expand to 112 million RMB, which will be an increase of 86.7% on 2007. This year the market is only 23 million.
