Centrify and Appcelerator Partner to Deliver Mobile Authentication Services for Titanium Studio-Powered Mobile Applications

Strategic Partnership Gives Mobile Developers Access to Industry’s First Cloud Service Enabling Active Directory Integration and ‘Zero Sign-On’ Authentication to Apps

SAN FRANCISCO (CODESTRONG Mobile Conference 2012) — Centrify Corporation, the leading provider of security and compliance solutions that centrally control, secure and audit access to on-premise and cloud-based systems, mobile devices and applications, today announced a strategic partnership with Appcelerator, the leading next-generation mobile platform company, to equip mobile applications built on Appcelerator’s Titanium with Centrify’s new Mobile Authentication Services (MAS).  Centrify MAS delivers Active Directory-based authentication for mobile applications to cloud services.   Centrify, a key technology sponsor of the CODESTRONG Mobile Conference 2012 being held this week in San Francisco, and Appcelerator have also signed an agreement to distribute Centrify’s MAS Software Development Kit (SDK) on the Appcelerator Open Mobile Marketplace.

As a result of the new partnership, Appcelerator’s more than 350,000 mobile developers will have free access to Centrify’s MAS, the industry’s first cloud service to provide “Zero Sign-On” authentication for mobile applications to cloud services leveraging Active Directory.  “Zero Sign-On” goes beyond Single Sign-On (SSO) for devices enrolled in the Centrify Cloud Service, as users who have enrolled their mobile device in the Centrify Cloud Service are provided a certificate identifying the user of a specific device. Users are then able to use Mobile Apps that integrate with the Centrify MAS SDK to gain seamless access to authorized cloud services upon unlock of the mobile device.

Now mobile application developers leveraging Titanium will be able to easily create mobile applications with full integration into an organization’s Active Directory infrastructure for authenticating users of mobile applications, eliminating the need for mobile device users to remember and re-enter credentials for each mobile application.  For more information, visit Centrify at CODESTRONG to view product demonstrations, and see accompanying Centrify press release issued today titled “Centrify Introduces Industry’s First Cloud Service to Centralize User Authentication to Mobile Apps for Improved User Experience and Security.”

“With so many applications available to mobile users, it can be a challenge managing all of the passwords required for authentication and secure access,” said Appcelerator COO Sandeep Johri.  “With Centrify, more than 1200 Appcelerator enterprise customers will now be able to integrate stronger authentication for their mobile applications.  Leveraging Centrify’s new Mobile Authentication Services, IT organizations can provide the level of security that their environment requires.”

The rise in mobile device adoption has created challenges that go beyond setting security policies via mobile device management, especially when it comes to security and authentication for users accessing applications.  IT organizations have moved toward SSO for traditional desktop systems and applications but until now there has been no way to fully leverage a ubiquitous infrastructure, such as Active Directory, for mobile devices and native mobile applications in particular.  Until today, mobile apps required separate authentication and authorization that were set up in a siloed back-end service, leading to poor security polices as well as user frustration and loss of productivity from having to remember multiple complex passwords in order to meet security requirements.  In addition, independent software vendors must ensure security and productivity of mobile applications, but lacked simple, universal mechanisms for adding authentication to their applications.

“Appcelerator’s enterprise-grade, cross-platform development solution powers more than 50,000 cloud-connected mobile applications used on 80 million devices every day, and we are pleased to make available Centrify’s Mobile Authentication Services to its growing developer community via Appcelerator’s Marketplace,” said Shreyas Sadalgi, senior director of business development at Centrify.  “Now developers can add stronger authentication and Active Directory services seamlessly to the leading mobile apps they are developing utilizing our MAS SDK.”
