Roseville, MI – National Bronze Manufacturing Company, a leading US manufacturer of bronze bushings, bearings, and machined components, is pleased to announce its participation in the Second Annual Manufacturing Day.
Observed on Friday October 4, 2013, Manufacturing Day aims to reshape long held misconceptions about manufacturing. Manufacturing Day is co-produced by the Fabricators Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the Manufacturing Institute (MI) ,the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), and Industrial Strength Marketing.
“Manufacturing Day is a great opportunity to shift Americans’ perception that it is not our grandfather’s manufacturing anymore and to showcase the tremendous career opportunities manufacturing has to offer,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. “This day is an engaging way to attract young people and get them excited about pursuing a career in a technology-driven, innovative environment that will also provide a good-paying job. We encourage all manufacturers and manufacturing associations to get involved and share what we already know—manufacturing makes us strong.”
“We hope to educate our community on the products we manufacture as well as the innovation and modern technology used to make them” said National Bronze Mfg VP of Business Development Michael Russo. “We’ve been manufacturing bronze parts for over 100 years, but I think the community will enjoy seeing the advancements in technology that has allowed us to be successful for all these years.”
“This celebration of manufacturing is a chance for all of the great manufacturers who ‘Make It in America’ to show their value to their communities,” said Roger Kilmer, Director, Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP).
With the gap growing each year between the skills students learn in school and those they will need on the job, it is increasingly difficult for manufacturers to find and hire qualified employees. By promoting Manufacturing Day, National Bronze Mfg. hopes to address some of the myths preventing students from pursing manufacturing as a career.
