Summit 12000 HS probe station chosen for its flexibility and throughput capabilities

BEAVERTON, OR - August 18, 2009 - Cascade Microtech, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCD) today announced that a leading light-emitting diode (LED) manufacturer has selected its high-speed Summit 12000 HS probe system for production test. Cascade Microtech's Summit 12000 HS was chosen for its system flexibility to test a broad range of device types in a production environment. The advanced automation software on the Summit 12000 HS reduces setup time to minutes, allowing improved product delivery times, to meet the demands of LED device integrators.

The LED device market is growing, driven by the current trend in key energy segments to reduce power consumption for lighting and electronics. According to NextGen Research, the illumination segment of the LED market will lead with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 22% in the 2009-2013 timeframe. They claim the display portion of the market should achieve a five-year CAGR of over 14% as cities worldwide shift their streetlights to these more energy-efficient and ecologically friendly solutions.

The Summit 12000 HS system was designed to support high-throughput production test for these growth markets and provide superior cost-of-ownership through yield improvements and reduced manufacturing costs. The Summit 12000 HS enables high throughput using a unique software automation capability that allows one station to be used for multiple tests, eliminating numerous operator steps. The Summit 12000 HS system software tools offer unique wafer stepping patterns and pattern recognition to improve accuracy.

"LED is fast becoming an area of global focus, and Cascade is excited to be a leading technology supplier during this explosive growth phase," says Geoff Wild, CEO of Cascade Microtech, Inc. "We believe our Summit 12000 HS for production test is an optimal fit for high-performance LED device manufacturing. Cascade Microtech has been enabling next generation devices for 25 years, and we look forward to supporting this important customer in its efforts to meet emerging requirements for LED engineering and production test."
