Nationally recognized engineering program turns today's engineers into tomorrow's business leaders

The nationally recognized MSEM program allows engineers to enhance leadership, management, and communication skills needed to stay at the forefront of today's technology-driven environment. With the goal of turning today's engineers into tomorrow's leaders, the MSEM is a multi-disciplinary two-year program comprised on two essential components; interactive classroom sessions and experiential learning. While the classroom experience is designed for students to gain exposure to important topics early on, the experiential based portion challenges students to define, manage, and execute real-world projects based on issues faced globally by technology- based organizations, as well as within their own company. "Unlike a traditional MBA program, the MSEM program allows students to retain their passion for technology, while becoming a leader in their own domain," commented Charlie Rabie, a Professor at Tufts Gordon Institute, "Graduating students not only walk away with a complete understanding of engineering management, they have also developed the necessary skills to effectively communicate, manage and lead within an organization." Carlo Gavazzi Computing Solutions is currently sponsoring engineering employee, Chris Clapp, in the MSEM program at the Gordon Institute. When selecting an employee to participate in the program, CGCS bases its selection on criteria which includes: strong technical and academic performance, leadership and management potential, and a strong desire to continue the learning process. In addition to sponsoring an engineer, CGCS also hosts a summer practicum for students at TGI that allows them to work on a group project: The focus of the 2008 summer project was dedicated to outsourcing business strategy. "It is a rare opportunity to learn from professors who are established leaders in the engineering and business community, as well as to learn from other practicing engineers", commented Chris Clapp, senior hardware engineer, currently in his second year in the MSEM program at the Gordon Institute.
