Expansion system to bear Solaris Ready logo, a sign of interoperability

Brockton, Mass. -Carlo Gavazzi Computing Solutions, an innovative leader in electronic packaging and system expansion solutions, announces that its XP-10E(TM) PCI Express (PCIe) expansion system has achieved certification in the Sun Microsystems Solaris Ready Program. With this certification, the XP-10E expansion system will display the Solaris Ready logo, a sign of its proven interoperability with the Solaris Operating System (OS).

To be named a Solaris Ready product, the XP-10E expansion system met the requirements of the Solaris Ready tests for system compatibility and interoperability with the Solaris OS on UltraSPARC and x64, as well as tests for ease-of-installation, functionality and network interoperability. As part of the Solaris Ready Program, Carlo Gavazzi Computing Solutions has also committed to providing support for the XP-10E expansion system.

The XP-10E expansion system is designed to facilitate migration to a PCIe system while maintaining existing software and PCI card investments. Ideal for a range of applications, including military, commercial, server, recording industry and data acquisition, the XP-10E expansion system is a flexible, out-of-the-box solution that directly connects to PCI and PCIe.

Carlo Gavazzi Computing Solutions' XP-10E expansion system is comprised of a host card, a motherboard and a 4U rack-mount or bench-top chassis. Additionally, the system uses low profile, short length and full height, short length PCIe host cards. Providing nine high-speed PCI slots and one PCIe slot from a single PCIe host system slot, the system offers users greater slot capacity than competitive models. The host system and the expansion unit can be placed up to two meters apart, connected by one PCIe x4 serial cable.

The system's flexibility extends to its power supply options, available in either an internal 300W ATX or dual, front-accessible redundant 400W or 500W power supply. The XP-10E's cooling system comprises three fans at 250 CFM, providing forced air-cooling that is sufficient for 500W power dissipation. The cooling system features a replaceable intake air filter and the chassis is front accessible for simple fan and filter replacement.

The XP-10E expansion system conforms to international emission and immunity standards. For more information about Carlo Gavazzi Computing Solutions' XP-10E expansion system, please visit www.gavazzi-computing.com.
