Capstone Turbine Selects FireChill as OEM for Small Scale Absorption Chilling Packages

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Capstone Turbine Corporation (www.capstoneturbine.com) (Nasdaq:CPST), the world's leading clean technology manufacturer of microturbine energy systems, has entered into an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with FireChill to produce ammonia absorption chilling packages powered by microturbines for combined cooling, heating, and power applications (CCHP).

FireChill, based in the United Kingdom, has developed the PowerChill 65
(www.firechill.com/wp-content/files/PowerChill_65.pdf) modular system, a pre-engineered, factory assembled and tested product that integrates Capstone C65 microturbines and FireChill's ALT500 chillers into a system that can quickly and easily be installed onsite.

"The PowerChill 65 will fill a void in the market that is not being met by other products. It is well below the size range of the UTC/Carrier PureComfort product. It is also a much different technology as it uses ammonia and not Lithium Bromide as the working fluid. FireChill plans to leverage the Capstone global distributor network for systems sales and after sales support," said Jim Crouse, Capstone's Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Because of the increased efficiency, emission reduction, carbon reduction and cost savings, there is demand for Capstone microturbine based chilling packages. Our relationship with FireChill has the potential to open markets worldwide for us, including temporary and portable applications."

"Capstone is a company with a great set of products for us," said Simon Clothier, FireChill CEO. "They have a super-efficient microturbine and we have a way of turning their waste heat into cooling without further energy input at low cost. We can do this in a variety of ways and in a range of environments. A technology agreement with Capstone will allow us to explore what is really possible. Through our partnership we can now work smarter and faster, to bring a more diverse set of usable, green applications to market."
