Installation of 7-Axis Romer Absolute Arm Increases Coordinated Metrology Capabilities

Anaheim, California - California Chassis, a global manufacturer of racks, enclosures, and cabinets for the telecommunications, transportation, and aerospace industries, today announced that it has significantly increased its coordinated metrology capabilities for ensuring the tightest production tolerances with the acquisition of a Romer Absolute Arm - model 7530 SI 7-axis Coordinated Measuring Machine (CMM) - from Hexagon Metrology (North Kingstown, RI). This Romer Absolute Arm installation represents the Company's commitment to continually enhancing its quality assurance programs.

The CMM will be used to inspect various parts to ensure critical dimensions and specifications are met throughout production. "The acquisition and installation of the Romer Absolute Arm is further evidence of our commitment to improve our design, manufacturing and inspection capabilities," said Econolite Group Vice President of Operations Wayne Hagewood. "In addition, this CMM has the capability for our engineers to laser scan a sample part and convert it into a CAD model, increasing productivity for custom parts."

The Romer Absolute Arm 7-Axis "SI" series with integrated laser scanner delivers the convenience of a fully integrated 3D scanning solution. The scanner is permanently incorporated into the seventh axis, and weight balanced with ROMER's Zero-G counterbalance feature for ergonomics and ease of use. The feature pack contains the scanner interface, so no external controller box is required. Single button automatic laser power control allows scanning of different surface types. No warm up time coupled with no homing procedures means an operator can be up and scanning in just moments.
