Portion of Proceeds Help Fund THINK Together

BANNOCKBURN, Ill., USA - Combining fun in the sun with philanthropy, IPC California and the Los Angeles and Orange County Chapters of the Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) held their 11th Annual Golf Event on August 16, 2010. More than 100 banquet attendees and 86 golfers enjoyed a warm summer day at the Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, California. The two organizations expect to donate more than $2000 from the proceeds to a local charity.

This year's recipient is THINK Together, a nonprofit organization that provides after-school and out-of-school learning programs for children from more than 225 schools and community centers throughout several counties in southern California. THINK (Teaching, Helping, Inspiring and Nurturing Kids) together provides services to 70,000 at-risk students and low-income families.

"There is such a need for the services provided by THINK Together, and we were impressed by the proven success among the participants," notes Dick Crowe, executive director, California Circuits Association (CCA). "It's an added bonus to be able to make a donation to such a wonderful cause while enjoying this annual get-together with our colleagues."

The musical entertainment for the evening was provided by the Crow's Feet Band, otherwise known as Southern California's Oldest Rock Group. The band performed during the reception hour, offering popular favorites such as "Elvira," "Route 66," "Mustang Sally" and "Honky Tonk Perfume" as well as a special rendition of A Lousy Day in California to the tune of "California Dreaming."
