Press release date: July 9, 2012

MILFORD, Ohio - AdvanceBio Systems, LLC today announced that the National Renewable Energy Centre of Spain (CENER) selected, in a global competitive bidding process, AdvanceBio Systems' SuPR2G Bench Scale Pretreatment Reactor to conduct basic research and development work, related to the production of fermentable sugars from lignocellulose rich biomass feedstocks.

"CENER and AdvanceBio Systems intend to collaborate in CENER's R&D effort, not only in pretreatment, but also with other interrelated technologies," said Bipin Shroff, a principal of AdvanceBio Systems. "The equipment will be used for research, development and demonstration of technology related to the production of renewable energy in their newly developed Second Generation Biofuels Center located in Navarra (north Spain)."

The SuPR2G reactor will incorporate AdvanceBio Systems' latest improvements to the initial Bench Scale Reactor System delivered to The Penn State University as demonstrated on YouTube: (http://www.youtube.com/user/Bioconversion1?feature=mhee)

The SuPR2G system is designed to hydrolyze a range of agricultural feedstocks such as sugarcane, bagasse, corn stover and switchgrass. Primary research at CENER will be on wheat, straw and poplar chips. The skid-mounted package system includes an integrated steam generator and PLC with a touch-screen HMI and capabilities of Ethernet Connection to existing data acquisition systems.

"By partnering with CENER, we are contributing to the development of technology to produce cellulosic ethanol from biomass, to increase global production of renewable fuels and chemicals," stated Dale Monceaux, a principal of AdvanceBio Systems.
