EDGE+/GPRS+ Accelerates Data Speeds by Up to 3X
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and KIEV, Ukraine, July 11 // -- Bytemobile, Inc., a global provider of optimized Internet protocol (IP) services for mobile data networks, and Astelit LLC, operator of the life:) network, today announced innovative data services for mobile Internet access called EDGE+/GPRS+. Powered by the Bytemobile® Optimization Services Node (OSN) product for dynamic network optimization, EDGE+/GPRS+ accelerates typical EDGE and GPRS data transfer rates by up to three times, offering what Astelit/life:) believes to be the fastest web browsing available without 3G network technology.
According to Bryan Visser, Bytemobile vice president and general manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa, the successful launch in Ukraine represents Bytemobile's first network deployment in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). life:) launched the new EDGE+/GPRS+ services for availability to subscribers on May 17, 2006.

As a result, the EDGE+/GPRS+ service compresses and optimizes data transmitted over EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution) or GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) networks, thereby increasing web page download speed by an average of 30% while maintaining a high-quality connection. The selection of EDGE or GPRS technology is automatic, based on the subscriber's mobile handset capabilities, as well as coverage availability. The EDGE+/GPRS+ service accelerates web browsing via a special access point called SPEED.
