Press release date: February 18, 2014

Milwaukee, WI – The threat of heavy snow didn’t stop Busch Precision from welcoming Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) to their facility this morning. Over 70 guests in attendance heard Senator Johnson’s approach to getting the country moving in the right direction.

“The challenges facing America really require every American to be fully engaged and fully informed to make the right decisions. The root cause of these financial and cultural problems literally is the size and scope and all the rules and regulations, and government intrusion controlling our lives in the resulting cost of debt government.” Senator Johnson continued with a fact-filled presentation, including topics of federal spending, the Social Security deficit, education, healthcare, and poverty.

During the QA section of the visit, when asked by Michael Retzer from Strohwig Industries on how to get politicians to work as a team, Senator Johnson responded, “If we remain unified as conservative and moderate republicans, as libertarians, as tea party guys, as 9-12ers, as social conservatives, we might have a chance of saving this nation fashionably. If we are divided, we lose.”  Wayne Staats from Granville Business and Event Center asked Senator Johnson, “How do we stop the intrusiveness and overregulation of the federal government suing private businesses and citizens and creating an atmosphere of fear of the government?” The senator replied, “We need to keep an eye on what the federal government’s capabilities are. The legal system is pretty well set up to drive settlement. It’s a very litigious society.”

Senator Johnson thinks it is important for citizen legislators to ally with those who are seriously facing the reality that the federal government is bankrupting America. His manufacturing background has taught him to attack the root cause of a problem, not mere symptoms. He believes huge deficits, slow economic activity, high unemployment and woefully inadequate job creation are severe symptoms of the problem – but not the root cause. The ever expanding size, scope and cost of government is.

Busch Precision was honored to be the start of Senator Johnson’s day, as he toured Milwaukee area manufacturing businesses to learn how today’s economy is affecting the manufacturing world, and how they are rising above the struggles.
