WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA, USA - (March 31, 2009) - A new technical brochure from Victrex highlights how VICTREX® PEEK(TM) polymer is successfully replacing metal and other thermoplastics in a variety of gear applications. With industry trends moving toward higher performance and efficiencies, weight reduction and miniaturization, as well as lower cost, VICTREX PEEK polymer is a high performance material alternative with a unique combination of properties to meet the challenging requirements for future system performance.

The brochure describes in depth the complex spectrum of demands that gear wheels are required to meet and how proper functioning depends on good tribological and mechanical properties, durability and heat performance, resistance to aggressive media, and dimensional stability - all of which are key properties of VICTREX PEEK polymer. In addition, because its properties, VICTREX PEEK polymer offers a significant advantage over typical polymer gear materials in exposure to high temperature and moisture.
