IRVINE, Calif. – Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM), a global innovation leader in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, today announced that Chamberlain®, a leader in residential garage door openers, has selected Broadcom's Wireless Internet Connectivity for Embedded Platforms (WICED™) platform to power its latest innovation, the MyQ Garage™. Based on WICED's embedded Bluetooth® Smart and Wi-Fi capabilities, MyQ Garage allows users to control and monitor the garage door via a smartphone, tablet or computer from anywhere in the world. "The performance and reliability of the WICED platform as well as the world class support we received really helped us get to market quickly," said Cory Sorice, Chamberlain Director of MyQ Connectivity. "We are proud of the new MyQ Garage product, and the collaboration between Broadcom and Chamberlain was one of the key ingredients that made this breakthrough product possible."

Broadcom's WICED platform delivers original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) a complete simplified implementation of wireless connectivity in an array of consumer devices for the rapidly expanding Internet of Things (IoT) market. By providing access to the industry's leading Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Smart technology in a complete platform, Broadcom is enabling a broad range of new innovations in home automation, personal security and health and fitness.

Chamberlain's MyQ Garage includes a cloud-based Wi-Fi hub that can be used in combination with openers from most existing major garage door opener manufacturers. Users can install MyQ in minutes and there are no monthly or ongoing service fees. Broadcom's Bluetooth Smart technology is also integrated into the MyQ door sensor, providing immediate notification via the user's mobile device in the event of a security breach. The combination of world class connectivity and remote accessibility give users unprecedented control over a primary entrance into the home.

"The growth of the Internet of Things is driving innovation from companies of all sizes and across all industries, and we are thrilled that our wireless connectivity can help inspire new products and use cases," said Brian Bedrosian, Broadcom Senior Director, Wireless Connectivity. "Chamberlain's MyQ Garage offers a prime example of how adding connectivity to an everyday product can give consumers greater control of their home and work environment from a remote location."
